We were approached by a local developer to heat his own recently converted property from LPG system to a log gasification system.
We needed to provide a heat source to feed the underfloor heating, towel rails, hot water system and also a commercial building to the side of the main dwelling. The surface area totaling approximately 500sq metres. The system that we designed once we had discussed and assessed with our client his day to day needs running his home, composed of a 60kW log gasification burner feeding; a large towel rail circuit and hot water supply all five bathrooms. The installation went ahead as planned soon the project was complete and ready for ‘firing up’.
The biggest difference was first noticed in the depths of coldest winter when our client found that he needed only to fire the boiler once a day when temperatures were below freezing, and every second or third day in average winter conditions. During the summer months he was ‘firing up’ every nine to ten days however with the addition of the solar thermal evacuated tubes being the next upgrade to this system, this summer firing sequence will be eliminated.
The wood that is fueling the system comes from a local source and is free to our client bringing his bills for heating from the original LPG costs of £7,000 per annum to almost zero!
This was a truly remarkable improvement in the property’s energy efficiency and has provided huge savings for our client.
